Young talented drummer John Thomas

In issue #2, TIS introduces John Thomas in the music-interview column.

John Ashley Thomas may look like any average 25 year old musician, for his case, a drummer. But he has been playing from a tender age of 8. Growing up with a dad as a musician, naturally John has the touch and creativity to go with it. "I picked up the drums cause I think it's the most appealing instrument to me and it's easier to learn".

At the age of 15, John started gigging a lot, compared to the other kids around his age, John dedicates most of his time practicing and polishing up his skills. Sessioning from band to band, he became a house hold name as a jazz drummer, but he emphasize during the interview that he also play other kinda genres too, "Recently I've just finished a world tour with this Taiwanese artiste A-Mei, that's not contemporary jazz.. haha.. But yea, I do a little here and there too".

Currently, John is in two different bands, Phunkmob and John Thomas Trio. Being a full time musician, he dedicates his time purely to music. Being in a band which carries his name, the band John Thomas Trio consist of him and two friends whom he gigs often with. Whereas the band Phunkmob is a bigger band which consist of six members, but it may not be any average band, as it has some funky groove elements to it, according to John it's basically the type of music people can relate too.
